I love hummus. In the UK I would also have a pots in the fridge which I would buy from the supermarket. In Norway hummus isn’t available in supermarkets so I have to make my own. I would sometimes make my own in the UK but always preferred the supermarket version. I have been practicing for a while now and think I have come up with a great recipe.
Most recipes for homemade hummus don’t have enough liquid in them so tend to be quite dry and course, this has more to get that creamy texture.
I eat hummus with lots of things, traditionally with falafels and pitta breads, as a dip for crisps and vegetables or as a side with salads. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!
Hummus
Ingredients
- 1 tin cooked chickpeas
- 2 tsp tahini
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 5 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Place all of the ingredients in a food processor and blitz until smooth.
