Creme Fraiche Garlic and Chive Dip

Spring is nearly in full swing here, the silver birches are finally getting beautiful pale green delicate leaves, the gorse bushes are covered in thousands of yellow flowers which is making our hillside a vivid yellow in colour. I really love Spring when it finally starts to arrive in the Highlands, I think it is my favourite season, new growth, beautiful colours, bird song returning to wake me in a morning. It all sounds very idyllic.

I have been trying to get into more of a routine recently, waking early, letting out the chickens and cats, then practising yoga for 30-45 minutes followed by breakfast. My strength and flexibility are very slowly improving but I still have a long way to go but I am very happy with the progress I am making and I am looking forward to gradually adding more advanced positions into my practice. I use YouTube videos for my practice, when I lived in Edinburgh I used to go to Bristo Yoga now Meadowlark Yoga, which I loved and really miss. They have moved to a new location and now have a cafe, it all looks incredible and wish I could practice there everyday. Next time I am in Edinburgh I’m hoping I will have the time to do some drop in sessions. The teachers are amazing and I learnt so much, the past few years I have been very irregularly practicing yoga at home which is why now I am making the effort to try to practice everyday.
As Spring and Summer are here I thought I would share a quick post for a very easy homemade dip perfect for crisps and vegetables while cooking food for family and friends with a large glass of wine in the other hand. This makes a great alternative to the classic sour cream and chive dip. I always like to have dips and nibbles out when I have friends over for dinner and this is one of many that are great to do. Although not great when you have a date over as it is full of garlic and chives!

Creme Fraiche Garlic and Chive Dip

  • 5 tbsp creme fraiche
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 garlic clove, very finely grated
  • Handful chives, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl! Simple!

Enjoy! H x

  1. I made some homemade potato chips just the other night…wish I had had this to dip them in! Will give it a go next time. Thanks for sharing!!

      1. I’ll let you know when I do! (And for the chips I had a leftover peeled potato that I didn’t know what to do with…so I used a mandolin and sliced it, salted the slices and fried ’em in hot oil for a few minutes…they were soooo yummy! – next time I’m gonna find a way to make bbq!)
