Autumn Porridge Bowls

I love porridge and autumn is the perfect season to get back into beautiful warm bowls to start the day. As I have said before porridge doesn’t have to be a boring breakfast made with oats, water and a little salt as is the traditional Scottish method, in fact I will not eat it if it is made like that. Instead it can be a delicious and healthy start to the day, helping to get in some fruit and seeds into your breakfast.

In the recipe below I share an autumn favourite with pears but apples, bananas and figs are also great.

Autumn Porridge Bowls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup milk (cow or plant milk)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 pear, chopped into inch sized pieces
  • handful fresh berries
  • 1 tsp linseeds
  • 1 tsp pumpkin seeds
  • honey, optional

Method

  1. Place the oats, milk, vanilla, pear and cardamom into a pan and cook over a gentle heat for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Pour into a bowl and top with berries, seeds and drizzle with honey.

Enjoy! H x
