It’s time for my December British Fruit and Vegetables in Season guide. I love December, I am a huge fan of the Danish concept of hygge, for me this includes candlelit evenings, homemade baking, warm winter food and large glasses of red wine (of course!).
This month I am going to highlight a nut (for a change) and a vegetable which are chestnuts and kale.

Chestnuts
Chestnuts can be used to make some incredible vegetarian dishes. They are also beautiful in desserts too such as a chocolate chestnut roulade (recipe coming in December!). Apparently Italians used them to make polenta before the introduction of maize, who knew?!
Kale
Kale is an amazing superfood and is a fantastic staple in winter. There are not many leafy greens that are in season during winter so being able to have kale is great.
